Anthony (Tony) Federici, MA, LAC, NCC

Hello and welcome to My Therapy Connection™. Congratulations on taking the first step on your mental health journey! I am Anthony but you can call me “Tony” and I am here to help you through these difficult times. I am a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) in the State of New Jersey. I am also a graduate of Rowan University’s Clinical Mental Health and Counseling Program. I am currently accepting new clients and am seeing clients both in-person or via telehealth (online) depending on your preference. I utilize a client-centered approach, which means that every client gets specialized treatment based on what is most affective for them and the distress they are experiencing. I focus mainly on Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Acute Stress Disorder, Anxiety, and Depression. 

I am specially trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered Approach, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and have taken multiple trainings on trauma and responses to trauma. In 2022, I became a Certified Trauma Professional.

In the 15 years prior to becoming a therapist, I served as an EMT and Paramedic. Before that, I served in the US Army where I deployed to Iraq two separate times. I believe that my experiences as a Veteran and a First Responder places me in the position to understand and relate to the unique challenges that these populations face. At this time, I work primarily with adolescents and adults with a special interest in Veterans and First Responders. In my experience over the past two decades, I’ve noticed that both Veterans and First Responders continue to be underserved and someone needs to “help the helpers.”

When I’m not conducting therapy or working as a paramedic, I enjoy being outdoors or expanding my knowledge base. I love going hiking with my family, playing basketball with my daughter, exercising, or just going for a walk. I also enjoy reading, whether it’s to learn new therapeutic methodologies or an intriguing fiction book–makes no difference. What I enjoy the most in my downtime is just spending quality time with my family.

As a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) I am considered to be “pre-licensed,” which means that I require supervision to work toward full licensure. I work under the supervision of Jillian Young, LPC, ACS. License Number 37PC00441700
