Hi! Welcome to My Therapy Connection™. My name is Heidi Wimberg and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I have been a Licensed Counselor in New Jersey for over 20 years. Life can get challenging and overwhelming at times. Reaching out for help is a powerful choice; and to be part of your journey in healing is an honor and privilege. It has always been my belief that working with an individual is about the relationship. I believe that working together to build a strong, healthy, and secure relationship can serve as a model for future relationships you wish to develop.

As your therapist, I will meet you where you are and help guide you. I will be committed to helping you identify your goals and potential solutions to issues that are causing you emotional distress – all while helping you improve your communication, coping strategies, and overall self-esteem.

I began my educational journey when I graduated from Rider University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in psychology and Master’s degree in Counseling. I received focused training on a wide variety of topics, including, but not limited to anxiety, depression, relationships, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I am Level 1 trained in The Gottman Method for Couples and have completed specialized training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.

Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of people in outpatient and partial hospitalization settings. I have worked with children, adults, and couples. I worked extensively with highly traumatized women individually and in a group setting. Some, but not all, of my areas of focus have been treating relational issues, anxiety, anger, eating disorders, and depression.  As well as, various levels of treatment and care on an outpatient and partial hospitalization level.

When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my family going to the beach, and family trips. I also enjoy listening to music, walking outside, reading, and yoga.
