Hello and Welcome!

Hello and welcome to My Therapy Connection! My name is Jessica and I am a Licensed Social Worker in New Jersey at My Therapy Connection. I am passionate about working with children, adolescents, and young adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, or any other big emotions or situations that someone might need help processing. If you or your child are struggling with any of these things, we would be a great fit.

In my practice I prioritize creating and maintaining a welcoming, safe, and non-judgmental space for all of my clients, where we will work together to meet your needs. I believe that every person is different and that no two people have the same story, so I approach counseling in a way that caters to each person individually. You are the expert of your own life, so we will work together to create an intervention plan that feels right for you, whether that is building on positive coping skills, learning how to practice mindfulness, or simply talking through a hard day. Either way, our sessions will be client-centered, collaborative, and judgment-free, where I will help you to heal in whichever way you need.

In my free time, I love to spend time with my friends and family, whether that is having a movie day with my little brother and sister or trying out a new restaurant with my friends. My family and I have been rescuing retired racing greyhounds since I was little and we currently have three, so I am usually missing my dogs when they aren’t with me. I also love to read all genres, go to the beach in the summer, and eat good food always.

Training and Education

As for my education, I graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Seton Hall University followed by a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Fordham University. Having a background in both psychology and social work has allowed me to gain multiple perspectives in mental health care. I have learned, trained, and utilized different intervention techniques such as Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Trauma Informed Therapy, while also learning to focus on empathy, active listening, and empowerment of clients, among many other things.

My education also provided me with the experience of interning at a trauma-sensitive high school where I was fortunate enough to provide counseling to teens who had experienced extreme traumas, developmental disabilities, behavioral disabilities, and mental health diagnoses. I was also fortunate to intern at a school-based intervention and prevention program where I provided counseling to middle and high school students on a wide variety of issues, including but not limited to anxiety, depression, trauma, disordered eating, gender identity struggles, anger management, and crisis situations. These experiences have left me well-prepared and looking forward to working with you or your child for anything you or they might be struggling with.

As a clinician and a person, I believe that counseling can make a difference and provide that extra support you might be looking for. If you are unsure about therapy or have any questions or concerns at all, please feel free to contact me for a 10-minute complimentary phone consultation.

As a currently pre-licensed counselor, I work under the supervision of Kim Gerardi, NJ License #44SC05776700.
