Hello and welcome to My Therapy Connection™! My name is Kris and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New Jersey and a Licensed Social Worker in Pennsylvania. I believe that the human spirit is amazing, and I have seen people access insurmountable strength in the most difficult of circumstances.
I am honored to be working with people during some of the most difficult times of their lives to assist them in the process of healing. I believe when people feel heard they can become motivated to set attainable goals for themselves.
If you have been struggling to get through your days, searching for meaning in your life, longing to reconnect in your relationship, or simply overwhelmed by contemplating a life transition, I believe I can help you navigate the obstacles that are keeping you from living your best life.
“I believe that everyone has the power within themselves to reach their full potential and I am willing to work with you to create a safe space where you can explore that potential.”
“I believe that everyone has the power within themselves to reach their full potential and I am willing to work with you to create a safe space where you can explore that potential.”
I draw my clinical perspective from various therapeutic modalities, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness Meditation, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. I have training in Mindfulness Meditation practices for reducing anxiety and pain. I am a certified facilitator in advance care planning for healthcare decisions. I have led multiple support groups for anxiety, grief/loss and chronic medical conditions, as well as substance abuse disorders.
In 2023, I expanded my focus to couples. I completed Level 1 Training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and Levels 1 & 2 Trained in The Gottman Method for Couples.
I have always had a strong desire to help people. I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology from Widener University and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Rutgers University. After obtaining my Bachelor’s degree, I went on to gain a lot of experience working in various settings such as hospitals, outpatient physician’s offices, intensive outpatient programs, and inpatient facilities. Most of my career has been working in healthcare as a medical social worker, with a particular focus in Oncology. Part of my experience is working with those suffering from addiction, relationship, and chronic mental health issues, such as OCD, personality disorders, and mood disorders.
After years of this kind of work, I finally decided to go back to school to earn my Master’s degree in Social Work to allow me to become a therapist. It is something I put on hold for a long time, while I married and raised a family. I have experience with a wide range of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, substance abuse, chronic illness, grief and loss, mood disorders, personality and bipolar disorders, Post- Traumatic Stress Disorder, and body image issues.
People, including previous clients, describe me as kind, loyal, compassionate, empathetic, and determined and helpful. As an individual, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, traveling, reading a good book and the sounds of the ocean. I am married to my high school sweetheart and we have three pretty awesome children. I love a beautiful sunset! I am an avid foodie! I enjoy trying new restaurants and recipes, especially when someone else is cooking!
