Hello and welcome to My Therapy Connection! My name is Judy and I am a Licensed Associate Counselor serving clients in New Jersey. Making the decision to reach out for help can be scary but very empowering at the same time. As your counselor I will work to create a therapy setting that is safe, inviting, and non-judgmental where you can be vulnerable, explore your internal fears and worries, and experience healing and growth. Your story and your collection of struggles are unique to you. I believe there is no one-size fits all approach to therapy. Together we will spend time understanding exactly what you are experiencing and why so we can create interventions and coping skills that are tailored to work best for you.
I have been working as a counselor in New Jersey for over ten years and have a true passion for helping others. I have experience working with individual adults, children, and couples on issues such as depression, anxiety, anger management, trauma, and grief. However, my true passion lies in working with teens and young adults to find their passion in life, remove blocks that are keeping them from being their best selves, and helping them achieve their personal goals. As a mother myself, I have seen firsthand the pressure that is put on today’s youth as well as the increasing number of mental health concerns that arise from the increased use of social media platforms. This personal connection only increases my passion to help you better understand yourself and feel more comfortable in your own skin to achieve your personal goals.
I earned my undergraduate degree in psychology from the University of Delaware and continued my education at Capella University where I obtained my graduate degree in counseling psychology. I have specialized training in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical-Behavioral Therapy, vocational counseling and I enjoy utilizing a variety of techniques in the therapy setting. In November, 2023, I completed Level 1 Training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy.
Since graduating, I have worked in various settings within the mental health field including partial programs, in-home counseling, and outpatient. These settings have introduced me to a variety of mental health diagnoses and treatment modalities that have helped to shape me in to the eclectic clinician I am today.
When I am not working I enjoy spending time with my family, spending time outdoors, gardening, running, and cooking. I also have a thirst for knowledge so you can find me researching or reading about the newest counseling techniques, I believe in this field you next stop honing your craft!
