    Shannon Gallina, LSW

Hello and welcome to My Therapy Connection™! My name is Shannon and I am a Licensed Social Worker in New Jersey. As your therapist, I am dedicated to actively listening to your personal story while helping you create a growth and healing plan that will lead to your specific goals and needs.

I believe that you are the greatest asset when it comes to navigating therapy and we will work together in a safe, respected, and empathetic environment towards your desired results.

As we journey together, I will implement a client-centered approach to meet your specific needs. I will utilize Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and The Gottman Method for Couples.

My passion for social work and therapy began when I lost my late husband, a combat veteran, to suicide. As a suicide-loss survivor and widow of a veteran, I have a direct connection and passion for working with individuals or couples that have experienced loss, marriage struggles, are active military or veterans, and those living with mental illness.

I graduated with honors from Stockton University earning a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Social Work. In addition to the Gottman Method for Couples, I am trained in V.A. S.A.V.E. and QPR Gatekeeper for suicide prevention. I began using my clinical education in 2021 while working with a local non-profit agency that specializes in assisting individuals who were diagnosed with one or more serious mental illness. I continued my clinical profession with the Department of Veterans Affairs/Veterans Health Administration by providing individual and group therapy to our nation’s heroes. In a group setting, I was able to assist and educate individuals who were experiencing anger management concerns, marriage struggles, PTSD, and difficulties with grief and loss.

I am a firm believer in self-care and I practice it as often as I can! I enjoy reading, traveling, concerts, comedy shows, the beach, and days at the spa. My family and friends are the most important things to me and I credit them for molding me into the person that I am today. I proudly hold the titles of mommy, partner, daughter, sister, granddaughter, zia, niece, friend, mental health advocate, and surviving widow of a combat veteran.

As a pre-licensed counselor, I work under the supervision of Vanessa Tortoreto, LCSW NJ License # 44SC05773400.

As a clinician and a client, I believe in the benefits of therapy and the outcomes it produces with the individuals involved. If you’d like to talk further before you begin therapy, I will be happy to provide you with a ten-minute consultation at no charge to you.
